Charlie Morley has over 10 years’ experience in the field of sleep, dreams & mindfulness and has authored three bestselling books on the subject.
Description:
Originally developed for British military veterans, Mindfulness of Dream & Sleep is a holistic approach for people with stress or trauma affected sleep patterns. In this talk we will  learn how to transform the harmful effects that stress and trauma can have on the third of our life that we spend asleep.

Using scientifically verified mindfulness-based techniques alongside breath and body-work practices the MODS Method helps to reduce stress before bed and optimise sleep quality.

Mindfulness of Dream & Sleep is based on an unconditionally compassionate approach to sleep and dreams and is made up of five core practices which the talk will explore in detail.

  1. Normalisation of Trauma Affected Sleep
  2. Hypnogogic Mindfulness (Yoga Nidra)
  3. De-stigmatising Nightmares
  4. Coherent Breathing (the Breath-Body-Mind approach)
  5. Lucid Dreaming

This talk will lay out the foundations for the 1 day practical workshop on the subject that Charlie will be offering on April 5th.

About the speaker, Charlie Morley.

Charlie Morley is a bestselling author and teacher of lucid dreaming, shadow integration and Mindfulness of Dream & Sleep.

He’s been lucid dreaming for over 20 years and was “authorised to teach” within the Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism by Lama Yeshe Rinpoche in 2008. Since then he has written four books which have been translated into 15 languages and has run workshops & retreats in more than 30 countries.

He’s spoken at both Oxford and Cambridge Universities, run courses and given talks for the Metropolitan Police, Reuters News Agency and the Army Air Corps as well as presenting his work with military veterans on Sky News and at the Ministry of Defence Mindfulness Symposium.

In 2018 he was awarded a Winston Churchill Fellowship to research PTSD treatment in military veterans and continues to teach workshops for people with trauma affected sleep. These teachings form the core of his latest book Wake Up to Sleep.

In 2019, in a world first, he trained a group of therapists to use lucid dreaming with their clients. An expanded and updated 100 hour version of this course ran again in 2023 under the title Lucid Dream Facilitator Training.

The first scientific study into Charlie’s methods (conducted by the Institute of Noetic Science in 2022) concluded that “a remarkable decrease in PTSD Symptoms” was experienced in almost half of the participants.

Charlie formally became a Buddhist at the age of 19, lived at the Kagyu Samye Dzong Buddhist Centre for 7 years and completed a 3 month meditation retreat at Tara Rokpa Centre in 2016.

In his past life he trained and worked as an actor & scriptwriter before running a hip hop collective called THROWDOWN throughout his 20’s.

He now lives in London, next door to the Buddhist centre with his mini-dachshund called Waffles.

When he’s not teaching he enjoys kickboxing, surfing and pretending to meditate.
