Description:

10 x 75 minute sessions,  6pm - 7.15pm BST

Thursdays commencing 2nd September 2021

For the first time at Alternatives, we present a 10-week book study group for Ram Dass’s pioneering classic Be Here Now .

This book written in the 1970s is a treasure trove in the exploration of consciousness and was a labour of love for Dr Richard Alpert as he morphed into one of the most profound spiritual teachers in our world - Ram Dass

In this student-led group experience, we will read and study ‘Be here now’s 10-week program together. With the added energy of the group experience, we will get to explore and practice some of the many significant teachings Ram Dass put together and which have not only stood the test of time, but inspired many other teachers and students of consciousness in the subsequent decades.

We will come to understand and experience some of the deceptively simple practices over these ten weeks and simple homework will be given at the end of each session, in order to deepen these teachings within us.

Some of the subjects covered will be meditation, mantra, study, breath work and the practice of authenticity and integrity

How does it work?

There will be a 75 minute Zoom call held weekly on Thursday evenings at 6pm BST

After an introduction, review and guidance from your host (Alternatives co-founder Malcolm Stern), you will be put into groups to discuss the week's lesson/chapter. In the 1980s Malcolm organised 3 talks at Alternatives for Ram Dass and went on numerous retreats with him.

You will have guided prompts about everything that should be touched upon in the discussion and timestamps to make sure that everyone has a chance to share.

There will be practices, reflection, readings and lots of peer support.

The first call is scheduled for 2nd September at 6pm BST. We invite you to familiarise yourself with the book prior to our first session, although there will be structured readings and guidance at each session.

Important note:

- You will need a copy of the book. Be Here now is available on Amazon, or if possible please support a good independent bookseller.
