Writing as a path of self-discovery
Description:

This transformational one-day workshop introduces writers of all levels to memoir as a path of self-discovery.  When you learn to tell the whole truth about experience and to discern your own soul’s journey, you come to understand the mythic dimension of personal struggles, triumphs, confusions, longings, digressions, and so-called mistakes. As you come to realize that you are the storyteller not the story, you are free to examine beliefs, expectations, and biases that have limited your sense of self and move toward a more liberated, authentic, and awakened life. Matousek teaches that, "When you tell the truth, your story changes. When your story changes, your life is transformed."

Using targeted writing prompts, small-group sharing, and inspirational readings, Matousek guides you through a process of self-inquiry designed to deepen your insight and hone your craft. Known for his provocative work with students, he creates a supportive, welcoming atmosphere for doing this deeply personal work. Writing To Awaken has helped thousands around the world to gain fresh insight, heal from past wounding, and imagine new possibilities.  In his workshop, you will learn:

  • How to cultivate witness consciousness in writing
  • What it means to tell the untold story
  • The importance of exploring the personal shadow in memoir
  • How to using writing as a path of insight and truth-telling
