A Three-Week Online Writing Series
Description:

Intimate relationships are the testing ground for self-awareness and spiritual insight. Yet we commonly struggle against negative patterns and sabotaging behavior in dealing with the people we care about most.

In this transformative online writing series, memoirist and teacher Mark Matousek guides you through an exploration of three zones of intimacy that challenge everyone.

Check out Mark's video message here

In Week One, you’ll examine emotional intimacy (including the fear of being known) and the conflicts that occur when the heart wants to open but the mind refuses to let down its guard.

In Week Two, you consider physical intimacy and the universal human need for touch, which has been so challenging for many during the pandemic. Finally, in Week Three, you turn your attention to spiritual intimacy, and how soulfulness and transcendent awareness change the very ground of love.

Each 90-minute session will begin with a brief introduction to the week’s topic, followed by two 25-minute writing sessions, optional break-out groups, and a question- and-answer period. Mark creates a safe, supportive atmosphere for doing this deep work, asking probing questions and offering insight. Writing to Awaken has helped thousands of people around the world to reach their creative and spiritual goals.

What you’ll learn in this course:

  • To identify beliefs and narratives the interfere with emotional intimacy
  • To understand where the ‘fear of being known’ exists in you
  • To distinguish between intensity and intimacy (which are not always happy bedfellows)
  • To recognize your ‘skin hunger’ and how it is triggered
  • To increase intimacy with your own body
  • To use spiritual awareness to deepen your important relationships

You do not have to be a writer to benefit from Writing to Awaken.  All you need are curiosity, the courage to tell the truth, and the sincere desire for personal growth.

In this era of uncertainty, fear, and social unrest, it’s especially important that we cultivate intimacy in our lives. “It is in each other’s shadow that we survive,” Mary Robinson, the former president of Ireland, said Irish in the aftermath of her country’s Troubles. Writing to Awaken is a powerful tool for uncovering the truth of who you are and living a happier, more fulfilling life.  We hope that you will join us.

Early bird offer until midnight 19th December.  Replays will be provided for all sessions

Writing To Awaken is Mark’s transformative method of self-discovery, creative growth, and spiritual insight.

Using targeted, revelatory questions, you’re prompted to explore your hidden narratives — to write honestly about your wounds, desires, and opportunities for growth – in order to gain an authentic understanding that can move you toward a more liberated, truthful life.

Mark teaches that each of us has a personal myth constructed from the beliefs, misperceptions, and experiences of our lives. Too often, though, we believe that we are our story. We identify so strongly with the tales we tell ourselves that we cling to them for our very existence – even when they don’t quite fit.

When you explore the gap between truth and story, it becomes a doorway to personal freedom. Writing is an unsurpassed tool for illuminating the places where you’re stuck. The core of this teaching is simple. “When you tell the truth, your story changes. When your story changes, your life is transformed.”

Scientific studies have shown that a regular writing practice has the ability to improve physical, mental, and emotional health in dramatic ways. Writing to Awaken has helped thousands of people around the world to reach their creative and spiritual goals. No writing experience is necessary.
