Leonard Cohen tribute feat. Julie Felix
Leonard Cohen's extraordinary lyrics and music were a symbol of our times. He captured the imagination and respect of millions worldwide and his songs and poetry spoke to a generation hungry for meaning in a turbulent world.
Tonight we will hear songs and reflections from Julie Felix who met him in the 60s in Hydra and developed a lasting friendship with him. We will also be inviting the audience to share their reflections of the influence Leonard's music had on their lives and favourite tracks.
Julie will sing a few of Leonard's songs will also sing a song she wrote to Marianne (of so long Marianne fame) who was also a close friend.
Message from Julie Felix: 'Leonard was a friend of mine. It hit me hard when I heard of his passing. There were so many things I wanted to tell him and memories I wanted to revisit. I am grateful to have this opportunity to be part of a concert in his honour; to walk through parts of the landscape we shared, and to sing for him and for you - song is my kind of prayer.'
This evening is a tribute to a man whose spirituality was hard won in a lifetime of exploration.
