Chris Grimes + Mike Akers
Chris Grimes is the Artistic Director of INSTANT WIT and the principle workshop leader for the company. He is a highly experienced workshop leader, facilitator & coach. He trained initially as a Drama Teacher at the Central School of Speech & Drama in London, before going on to do the 2 Year Postgraduate Acting course at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, from where he was awarded the Peter Akerman Prize for Comedy. Since 1988 he has pursued a portfolio career combining all of the transferable skills of being an actor, teacher, trainer, comedy improvisation performer & coach.
Mike Akers is a performer, writer, dramaturg and educator from Bristol. He has been a member of Instant Wit for more than 15 years and he also performs regularly as his comic alter ego the Reverend Lemon. As a writer, he has had over forty plays commissioned including productions for Salisbury Playhouse, Travelling Light, Polka Theatre, Green Ginger, Sixth Sense, Pins & Needles, The Wrong Crowd and on BBC radio. He works regularly with director Sally Cookson, including a trio of highly successful productions for Bristol Old Vic, Treasure Island, Peter Pan and Jane Eyre, the latter two of which both went on to be produced at the National Theatre.
